7 Fun and Frugal Teacher Gifts

Picture
I don't have children at school anymore, but I know so many of you do, and I remember the end of the school year rush and trying to find the perfect little gift for your child's teacher, or these days, teachers. You don't want it to be useless, but you don't want it to cost a fortune either. It's a dilemma! I hope these ideas will solve that dilemma for you.

1. A personalised whiteboard eraser.
Most classrooms these days use whiteboards instead of blackboards, so a cute and fun gift is a personalised whiteboard eraser. This little eraser came from Officeworks and it was under $4. I personalised this one with the teacher's name, but you can put anything on it.

2. Teacher Fuel
These cute glass mugs come in a pack of two from Kmart for $10. They are microwave and dishwasher safe, and a lovely rounded shape.

I cut a saying out of purple shimmer vinyl on the Scan and Cut, using a free SVG file, and applied it to the mug.

Again, you could personalise it with the teacher's name or another saying.

Fill it with some coffee bags (Robert Timms coffee bags are often on half price sale and I stock up then) and some sugar sticks, or some chocolates or lollies or jelly beans or whatever treat you think your teacher would love.

3. Personalised handwash
This is the easiest gift to create and it is practical and fun, and when so many teachers buy classroom supplies out of their own pockets, giving something that can be used in the classroom serves two purposes - a gift and something they don't need to buy.

Take a bottle of foaming handwash or liquid handsoap and remove the front label and clean the bottle with rubbing alcohol to remove the adhesive residue.

I like to leave the ingredients label on the back, just so the recipient can check them if they need to.

For these two I cut Christmas trees from green vinyl, but you could use stickers or you could decoupage an image onto the bottle - get creative.

4. I Love Teaching notebook
Notebooks are so handy, they never go astray, but they can be boring.

The front of this notebook has been embellished with a simple vinyl design cut from Oracal 651 permanent vinyl on the Scan and Cut. Once on the notebook, the adhesive will cure and the design becomes permanent.

5. Chaos Co-Ordinator Pencil Case
This fun pencil case can be used for pencils or just teacher stuff.

It was personalised with the saying "Chaos co-ordinator" using permanent vinyl and a free SVG file.

6. A class memory book

Take a photo album and fill it with photos of the class through the years.

Start with a class photo on the first page, and then scour school newsletters and the school website for photos of the class, print them out and put them in the album.

Have your child journal about the photos and slip them in with the photos.

I used a mini album from Kmart, found in the photography department and used glitter iron-on vinyl (HTV) to cut the design for the front cover.

7. The memory whiteboard

This is a nice addition to a classroom, and a lovely gift for a teacher.

I used a whiteboard to frame the saying
"The influence of a good teacher
can never be erased".

Cut from red Oracal 651 permanent vinyl, it was applied towards the top of the whiteboard, leaving room for notes or even student memories, at the bottom.
