Simple Frugal Household Hacks to Make Cleaning Supplies Last Longer
Sometimes the best money-saving tips are the simplest ones — small habits that quietly stretch everyday household items further. One thing I do is cut steel wool pads into thirds before using them. A full pad is often far more than I need for small cleaning jobs, and by dividing them up first, they last so much longer. It’s a very easy way to reduce waste and save money over time. Another handy trick is reusing old rubber gloves that have seen better days. Instead of throwing them out, I cut them into strips and use them as strong rubber bands.
They’re surprisingly useful for:
• Bundling cords
• Keeping packets sealed
• Holding lids securely
• Organising items in drawers or the pantry
• Securing small household items together
The rubber is much stronger than many ordinary rubber bands, and it gives those worn-out gloves one more useful life before they’re discarded.
