Mini Knitted Jingle Bells

These little bells are so cute, and quick and easy to knit up. Even a beginner knitter could make these. They use small amounts of yarn, so creating a garland of jingle bells or decorating the whole tree is economical.

But I like to use them to attach to gifts, as an extra little something with the tag.

However you use them, they are fun and cute and if you add a jingle bell, musical too.

You will need:
Small amount of 8ply yar
3.75mm needles
Darning needle
Jingle bells

Cast on 14 stitches.
Row 1 (right side): Knit across.
Row 2 (wrong side): Purl 4 sts; knit 10.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until you have 46 rows. The edge with the purl stitches will curl slightly on its own.
Cast off,  leaving a tail that is long enough to sew up the side edge.

To make the bell:
Step 1. Fold in half, matching the short ends, so that the right side is inside. The curling edge should be on the bottom.
Step 2. Sew up the side seam. This becomes the side of the bell.
Step 3. Turn the bell right side out.
Step 4. Sew your starting tail around what is now the top of the bell (opposite from the curling edge) and pull it in tight to form the top of the bell. Fasten off.
Step 5. Weave in the ends and trim.
Step 6. Attach a jingle bell to the inside (if desired).
