Lesson 42: Cheapskating Couples Part 3
Hello Revolutionists,
How are your conversations going? You've had some tough ones in the last two weeks, even for couples who are used to discussing their finances. Having serious conversations about money is hard work, but don't give up. It will always be hard work, but when you're working together, sharing the load and the responsibility, it's less stressful.
This week you're going to take your map (you did complete last week's challenge, didn't you?) and expand it into a working plan.
This is where you do the work that needs to be done:
*write a step-by-step plan
*get the facts on your credit and debt information
*set up automatic transfers from your pay to your bill, PoM, Emergency and/or savings accounts
*If your goal is debt reduction, setting up a Payment Push for each debt
*Put away your credit cards - swap to debit cards if you pay bills and shop online
They are just some suggestions of what you need to do to write your step-by-step plan to reach your goal.
Don't procrastinate (we've talked about this before). Get stuck in to your plan right now. It will minimized the temptation to procrastinate on the practical aspect of this part of your Saving Revolution and also keep you on track with your goal.
And if you don't have any work to do on this Lesson, feel free to go back and expand on the conversation from Lesson 40 to better understand your financial goals and dreams as a couple.
Lesson 42 Challenge: Say something positive to your spouse or partner. Then make another time for the two of you to sit down together, with your financial notebook, to expand your discussion about your financial goals.
