100 Days to a Cheapskates Style Christmas Day 47: Simple Christmas Ornaments
You can make really pretty and unique baubles for your Christmas tree with just sewing thread, paperclips and two or three different, recycled gaudy necklaces made of large beads. Just string one large bead with two, three or five large ones and use a paperclip to hang them on the Christmas tree. You'll find a wonderful assortment of necklaces at any op shop for just 50 cents, up to about $2 each (for a long necklace full of beads and bling) and you'll get a lot of ornaments from one necklace.
$2 Shops sell bags of beads, but they'll obviously increase the cost of your ornaments. If you're wanting a matching set or creating to a theme, then they may be and option.
Look at Spotlight and Lincraft for bulk bags of beads - these are great if you want to make sets, and if you can get them on sale will be cheaper than a $2 shop and sometimes even cheaper than op shops and garage sales.
