31 Days of MOO No. 5 MOO Flavour Bombs
Leftover herbs? Don't throw them out - use them to make flavour bombs to use in your cooking and save a fortune - at least $1 each!
They are very expensive to buy - I've just priced them at my local supermarket and a pack of four was $4.95. You can bet I left them on the shelf and came home and promptly MOOed a whole tray of them. I used a combination of olive oil and butter. I like the flavour of butter, but it burns quickly, so combining it with a little olive oil I get the richness and flavour without the need to watch the heat quite so carefully when I'm cooking (and butter is so expensive at the moment so cost was a factor for me).
You will need:
Herbs
Olive oil or melted butter
Ice cube tray
Step 1. Shred the herbs and add them to the ice cube tray.
Step 2. Cover with the olive oil or melted butter.
Step 3. Freeze overnight, then then transfer to a container. Keep frozen.
To use: Take one or two flavour bombs and add to the frying pan, saucepan or barbecue before grilling meat or chicken. Add to the frying pan to cook fried or scrambled eggs or an omelette. Add to the pan and let melt before frying rice. Add to pan and let melt, then add cooked pasta. There are so many uses for these simple flavour bombs.
