Old Make-up Make Great Watercolours
Let the kids use the old make up to draw pictures with (using the lipsticks, eyeliners etc). The powders (like eye shadow, blushers etc) can be used like water colours. Just wet a paint brush and dip in. Contributed by Rachael, Rivervale, 20th December 2007
Old Makes New
You can reuse old makeup to make new makeup! For a lip gloss of your old lipstick, chop and blend with Vaseline. To reuse old compacts for bronzers and shimmy powders, smash the powder and pop in a small pot (available at discount stores and beauty supply stores). You can also use old makeup in soaps and creams to give a pretty shade and scent. These make great gifts as well!

Art Sets from Old Make-up Sets
I used to use old makeup sets for drawing as a kid. Shading areas is a lot easier with eye shadow than it is with pencil shavings, although you use a bit more. However, if you can't use it as makeup, it's no loss really.

Designer Lipgloss
I use old tubes of lipstick and turn them into lip gloss. Scrape out the dregs of an old lipstick container into a bowl or cup that can be microwaved. Add 2 teaspoons of grated beeswax, 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil and 1 teaspoon of liquid paraffin. Then melt in microwave. Stir in 3 drops of rose geranium essential oil. Wind the lipstick all the way to the bottom of the tube and then line the tube with baking paper. Pour lip gloss into the tube and stand upright until set (then remove the baking paper carefully). Alternatively I pour it into those mini jam pots you sometimes receive at Christmas. If you want a plain non-coloured lip gloss then just leave out the old lipstick dregs.
