Beating Flybuys - February 2018

Since Coles personalised Flybuy deals a few years ago I have had two Flybuys cards. I use one for my big weekly/fortnightly shops and the other one as the small, infrequent shop top-up card. I am a young, single girl living alone so I would never spend more than $40 at Coles at a time. I mostly shop at Woolies and only go to Coles if they have an amazing sale on. Flybys emails me a "personalised list" of sales based on previous purchases, along with a Flybuys deals that I need to activate. My deal this week (and regularly) is "spend $60 to get 1,000 bonus points" up to "spend $80 to get 2,000 bonus points". This week I am visiting my parents who said they had bought up lots of things at Coles to get to their bonus Flybuys deal for this week - "spend $100 to get 2,000 bonus points". The deals are based on your buying habits that are tracked via the card, so by having two Flybuys accounts and cards, you'll be able to trick Coles into trying to tempt you into the store by giving you bigger savings. I collect my points and redeem them twice a year - once before I go on holiday and again in November to use for Christmas shopping. I redeem the larger amount in gift cards so I can use them wherever I choose to, and the smaller amount is added to my Flybuys card so I can use them at the supermarket. If you start collecting and saving your points now, by November you'll have a nice bonus just in time for Christmas and the summer holidays.
