Cleaning Filters on Rangehoods

I found a very easy and quick way to clean the filters of my range hood was to place a handful of Napisan in the laundry tub then add boiling water, stir to dissolve, and submerge the filters in this mix. Swirl the water around and watch the grease and grime lift from the filters. Then take them outside and hose until water runs clear. (If exceptionally greasy it may be necessary to repeat the process.)

Editor's note: If you don't have Napisan (or the generic equivalent) dishwasher powder or Lectric Soda (sodium carbonate/washing soda) works too. I do this to the filters from the rangehood, my vacuum cleaner, the washing machine, dishwasher and the air-conditioner. Just make sure each filter is completely dry before putting them back or they may end up mildewing.  Cath
