Tip Store: Groceries: Cleaning Products

Laundry powder in bulk

I buy my laundry powder in bulk at Kmart during their 15% off storewide sale. 15kg can last my family of 4 upto a year. at about $30 for the box it is a substantial saving for us.

Household Staples Cheaper at Discount Stores

My husband is an apprentice and we have two children under 4 years old, so as you can imagine our budget is quite strict. I save a lot of money by shopping at Crazy Clarks and the Warehouse for laundry lines and disposables. I always buy concentrated powders, you get a lot more washes and bulk toilet paper for under $4, tissues for $1 and bread for $1, even look through the hair care range for known brands that are quite reduced. Also I find it a lot cheaper to buy from the local butcher and green grocer than from large supermarkets.

Shopping at Chemists for Basics

We have recently discovered that the chemist sells 1kg packs of laundry powder usually Spree or Surf for only $2.50 or less. Buying it this way makes it so much cheaper than the supermarket, which is usually at least $7 for 2kg. We are very happy with our new discovery.
