The Clutter to Cash Challenge

Picture
Are you in lockdown, staying home? Bored? Are you surrounded by clutter? Perhaps your clutter is invisible, neatly stacked and stored cupboards, but it's still clutter.

Well now is the time to clear that clutter and make some money!

Who couldn't use a little more cash right now? So take up the challenge to turn that clutter into cash and you'll have more money in your pocket and a more comfortable home to stay in.

It's easy, really.

Go through your home. Take out anything you no longer use, need or want.

List those items for sale.

After they are sold, arrange for a contact-free pick-up.

Simple!

Let me break it down for you so it's even easier and simpler.

Use the free printable to track your Clutter to Cash Challenge.

The go through each room. Declutter the cupboards, drawers, bookshelves, boxes, baskets and anything else you use to hide the clutter.

Make sure it's saleable and usable. Anything that's not needs to be recycled, repurposed or, as a last resort, dumped.

Set a price for each item. Be sensible and be reasonable - don't be greedy. If you set a price, ask yourself would you pay that much for whatever it is. If the answer is no, rethink the selling price.

List each item for sale. You can try eBay, Gumtree, a Facebook buy/swap/sell group or any other resource you have.

Once the item is sold, arrange for pick-up (or post it - depending on your conditions of sale). Wrap the item/s in clear plastic so the buyer can see it when they come to pick it up.

On pick-up day, have the buyer text you when they are at your driveway. Put the item at the front door and step back so it can be picked up - remember, contact-free! It's kind of a Cheapskates version, in reverse, of an Uber or Deliveroo delivery.

Simple. Easy. A good use of your time. And bank account building.
