Exciting Times in Our New House

Picture
I wanted to share my favourite room in our new house with you and also say thank you for keeping me on track with the "Tip of the Day" emails, they really serve as a reminder that every dollar counts.

After budgeting and saving for the last four years, my husband and I were able to buy our first home in April. Before this we were renting a furnished house from friends who moved overseas.

Knowing how much work it took to get our deposit together, I was determined to be wise with my furniture budget for the new house.

Master Bedroom cost breakdown:
Queen Anne bedhead & bedside tables - $150 - Gumtree
Sealy Posturepedic spinecare deluxe ensemble (with base) - $400 -eBay (it was only one year old and had been sitting in someone's spare room)
Queen doona cover set - $40 - dealsdirect.com.au on sale
Chandelier - $129 - Bunnings. An electrician friend installed it for a very small fee
Bedside lamps - $28 - Target sale
Throw blanket - $30 - Ikea
Frame - Wedding gift

Total:      $777

I love it, every morning I feel like I'm waking up in a hotel :) at least until I realize it's 5.20am and time to get ready for work.

Thanks again for all of your help!

Erica Avenell
