From Cath's Desk - Tuesday 1st December 2009
Hello Cheapskaters,
Seasons greetings!
We have had a lot of fun putting this December edition of the Journal together for you. Christmas is my favourite holiday, if only because it lasts for a whole month (well almost). I love the decorations, the food, the fun with family and friends and yes, dare I say it, I even love the weather. Sometimes hot and steamy, sometimes wet, sometimes even cold enough to put the heater on.
Christmastime weather in Australia is never, ever boring and predictable, unlike your fridge on Christmas night, groaning with leftovers that no one wants to eat. On the Menu has some really delicious recipes to use up that leftover Christmas turkey, chicken, ham and seafood so that you won't even realize you are eating leftovers. There are also a couple of yummy desserts to use up the leftover Christmas pudding too, although personally I love thin slices of Christmas pudding, lightly warmed in a little melted butter for breakfast on Boxing Day. Yum!
Are you enjoying the How Tos? If you'd like to know how to make or do something, let me know. We may just be able to put together a step by step how to for you. We have added three new How To sheets this month: How to Make a Christmas Wreath, How to Make Christmas Crackers and How to Make a Paper Christmas Hat, all timely for the Christmas season.
This month sees the last instalment in Mr and Mrs Smith's budget renovation. They've come a long way since Mrs Smith first contacted me and they started their journey and I am very proud of them. If you've missed an instalment you can read their story from the very beginning here (or just click on the instalment you missed).
Don't forget that we have the perfect gift idea for you this Christmas - a Platinum membership to the Cheapskates Club! When you order two or more gift memberships to the Cheapskates Club you'll pay just $22 each and as a bonus the memberships will be active until 31/12/2010, and extra week of membership free! You can order your gift memberships here.
From my home to yours I'd like to wish you a very merry and blessed Christmas filled with joy and peace and the happiest and most prosperous of New Years in 2010.
