Hello Cheapskaters,
Well we're half way through the Own Your Christmas Countdown, on the homestretch so to speak. Christmas 2017 is shaping up to be fun, stress and debt free for so many Cheapskaters and their families. It's not too late to join the fun, just click here to access the countdown page, and you'll be able to catch up.
What an incredibly busy month October was! There's quite a bit of background work that goes into getting the Journal pages ready to be uploaded. There's the brainstorming sessions about what to include (these are done months in advance), then the research for information (also usually done in advance). Of course the featured tips for the Tip Store chapter have to be chosen, edited, checked, formatted and re-checked.
All the articles need to be researched, written, checked, formatted, references and links checked; relevant archived articles, printables, and websites found, checked and formatted to the article. Then they have to be checked again.
Recipes for On the Menu are checked and composed and formatted. Then of course my meal plan for the month needs to be formatted and produced, then uploaded. It really is what I plan to feed the troops for the month and having it on the fridge is so handy, especially on busy days .
We devote a lot of time to finding good answers to your questions. Answers that offer good, sensible and practical solutions to your problems. Sometimes we need to recreate the problems to find a working solution. Sometimes we already know the answers.
Searching the quotes is a lot of fun, but it takes a little while to find quotes that fit with the theme of the upcoming edition and are relevant to our unique way of life, as Cheapskates and as Australians. We get a lot of laughs out of looking for quotes though, and they do make me stop and ponder a moment.
After all that, the web pages have to be created, edited, saved and checked before they can be uploaded. All the links need to be tested, all the images need to be checked, .pdfs checked to make sure they download correctly and lastly that everything is in the correct order.
And all this has to be done in between writing newsletters, daily tips, updating the website, looking after members, answering emails and phone calls, talking to journalists and reporters and looking after the family.
At least it keeps me out of mischief (and I love it!).
Have a great month everyone and enjoy this edition of The Cheapskates Journal.
