Hello Cheapskaters,
Merry Christmas!
We're at the end of another year. Another year of Cheapskating done and dusted, with lots of successes and a few fails. Lots of new ideas shared and used. Lots of money saved and debts cleared.
But best of all, lots of new friends made.
Friends who understand when you proudly re-use the baking paper until it crumbles. Friends who understand the pride when you can add an extra $5 to your Emergency Fund. Friends who understand the sheer joy of making that final credit card payment. Friends who understand why you've chosen to live the Cheapskates way and who support, encourage and cheer as you aim for a debt free, cashed up and laughing lifestyle.
It's been a year of ups and downs, with just last week seeing a huge stock market crash; property values have gone up and then down; all we hear is doom and gloom and that the economy is just fine - contradicting messages coming at us from all directions.
If there's one thing I hope you've taken from Cheapskates this year it is this: it doesn't matter what the gurus say, it's what you choose to do with your money that makes the difference.
You can pay that debt off. You can save up for a mortgage. You can build and emergency fund. You can live the Cheapskates way, and do it happily.
And you can choose to ditch the stuff that's not important to you, so you have the cash to enjoy the things that are.
This year is almost done, and we have a brand new year, with 365 opportunities to live the Cheapskates way, to look forward to.
Have a very merry Christmas everyone, and I can't wait to see what challenges 2019 brings for us all.
