We have some new Cheapskates Club members and I would really like to say welcome and I hope you enjoy our fantastic community.
It's interesting when I am interviewed that a question I am asked often is “Why did you start Cheapskates?” and even after years of being asked I can't really give a short, succinct answer (which is what they want).
Why I started Cheapskates is a complex question.
When disaster struck, living the Cheapskates way became an absolute necessity for us. Through those hard years I learnt more and refined our habits so we could maintain our lifestyle.
And out of that disaster the idea for Cheapskates emerged.
I started Cheapskates because I wanted to stay at home with our children while they were small but at the same time we needed an income.
I also started the website, newsletter and the Cheapskates Club because I wanted an inexpensive way to share the message: living the Cheapskates way isn't being mean and miserable. It's about having choices and being free to do what's important to you without worrying about money.
And I started Cheapskates because there is nothing else like it in Australia. And Australians need and want information that is relevant to us and our unique Australian lifestyle.
And I think that is the shortest answer I have ever given to that question.
