Hello Cheapskaters,
I'm writing this sitting under our awning in the beautiful Weipa caravan park. It's about 31 degrees, with a gentle breeze that is just enough to cool the air. The sky is blue, with a few fluffy white clouds and life is good (especially as we talked to home last night and it was raining, cold and miserable).
It's hard to think that this is a winter edition of The Cheapskates Journal when I'm about to go for a swim, but it is. It's also thanks to our Cheapskates lifestyle that we are able to escape the Melbourne winter and travel for five weeks without going into debt, or missing out on any treats or luxuries.
Sometimes living on a strict budget and saving regularly can be boring, but persevere if you find yourself wanting to give up. It is so worth it when you can have that holiday, paid in full before you leave home, or when you make that last mortgage payment years earlier than expected, or when you can retire early and not lose your standard of living.
There are lots of little ways to save money in this month's Journal, so sit back, have a read, and then start planning that paid for holiday (or that last mortgage payment).
