From Cath's Desk
Hello Cheapskaters,
This is the last part of each month's Journal to be posted. It's also the last article to be written. That's because I like to think about what to write; to try and make it meaningful to you (and me!). And that takes me a long time.
I jot down notes as I think of things I want to share. I think about what's going on in our lives, what's happening in the world and how it will affect us, not just personally, but as a community. And usually I am full of words and have to stop myself from writing an epic.
But tonight, my mind is blank.
I'm staring at the screen, wondering what on earth I can say to you that will encourage you, build up your faith, and help you believe that you can live life debt free. You can save, so you are cashed up. And that you will be laughing, with joy, secure in the knowledge that you are in control of your finances.
You can do it. It won't be easy, it wasn't for us. There will be times when you will want to just go to bed and stay there. And then you'll make that final credit card payment. Or that final loan payment. Or that final mortgage payment. Or it could be the day you move into your own home because you finally saved enough to get a mortgage. It could be paying a whole year's school fees in advance because you saved the money. Or perhaps taking the family on that long dreamed about overseas holiday to Disneyland.
In the grand scheme of life, working hard for a few years to become financially stable is just a blip. Once you're debt free and cashed up, there's a whole lot of life left to live and that blip is over.
And the joy will overflow and you'll be so grateful that you put in the hard work, because now your future is secure and you are in control.
