Tip Store: Gifts: Gift Ideas under $5

Doiley Dishes

Picture
You will need:
A doiley
A glass bowl
White glue (PVA glue)
Water

Step 1. Make sure your doiley fits over the upside down bowl.

Step 2. Measure equal quantities of PVA glue and water to make a thin paste. The quantites are going to depend on the size of your doiley, the bigger the doiley the more mixture you'll need.

Step 3. Soak your doiley in the PVA mixture. Gently squeeze the excess out so it's not dripping but still wet.

Step 4. Drape the doiley over the upturned bowl, situating it so it's even.

Step 5. Put the doiley draped bowl somewhere safe to dry. Allow to dry for 24 hours.

Step 6. After 24 hours carefully slip the doiley off the bowl and there you have it - your very own doiley bowl.

Useful Teacher Gifts

Instead of getting to Christmas time and the kids wanting presents to give the teacher's during the year buy the pen's the different charities have and use these as presents, no more thinking what to buy and the teacher has a useful gift to use. Could be used as token gifts for neighbours, friends etc. Contributed by Colleen Bellman, 12th August 2010

12 Presents for Just $3.75 Each

I recently visited a winery as part of a day trip to the Mornington Peninsula. I bought a case of wine from a winery (12 bottles) for $45. The wine was on sale as it was from a different season. I plan to distribute the wine as Christmas presents- that is 12 presents for just $45!
