Give the Gift of Relaxation with these Gorgeous MOO Bath Bombs
If you're planning on giving handmade gifts this Christmas these bath bombs are just the thing. They're easy to make and much cheaper than buying them. And don't think for one minute that they are just for girls! They're great for the sportsmen in your life too - use Patchouli, Sandalwood, Bay, Ginger, Black Pepper, Vanilla or the citrus oils for manly scented bath bombs.
What you'll need:
2 cups bicarbonate soda*
1 cup corn flour**
1 cup citric acid
5 drops essential oil
3 tsp olive oil, or coconut oil, or sunflower oil
2-5 drops food colouring (optional!)
spray bottle with water
Moulds***
Step 1. Combine your dry ingredients and stir.
Step 2. Next add your essential oils and oil (like EVOO, sunflower or coconut) and stir. Then add your food colouring if so desired. Give everything another really good stir.
Step 3. Next, spray the mix with your water until it feels like wet sand. Spray, then feel the mixture - you don't want to add too much water. Then mix with your hands until everything is thoroughly combined and the mixture holds its shape.
Use a mould or your hands to form to desired shape. Let sit for a couple days to dry before unmoulding.
Notes:
*Bicarbonate Soda - if you buy it from the supermarket, even Aldi, it will be expensive compared to what you can get from pool shops. Pool shops (like Clark Rubber for example) sell bicarbonate soda as PH Buffer in bulk containers for a fraction of the price per kilo. Now this is perfectly fine for cleaning and using as bath bombs. IT IS NOT FOOD GRADE so do not use it in your cooking, baking or preserving.
**Corn flour - use generic corn flour, it's cheaper and for this purpose just as good as branded.
***Moulds - the moulds you use for your bath bombs can be anything from cut down egg cartons to silicone cake or chocolate moulds. I use silicone cupcake moulds in different shapes that I bought at The Reject Shop or my favourite op shop for $2 or under a set. As the bath bombs have essential oils in them that may leach into the moulds, keep them just for this purpose - your baking may taste like a bath bomb otherwise!
