Handbag Presentation Case
This gorgeous presentation case is worth the time and effort for a specatacular gift.
I have adapted it from a Mixed Up Craft template, changing the size, orientation and adding an acetate cover to each side to hold the contents in place.
The instructions are for an 8"square presentation case.

Closure

Base Frame
- Score the 5" x 8" cardstock panels on the 5" side at 1", 2", 3" and 4".
- Fold and burnish score lines on all 8 pieces of 5" x 8" cardstock.
- Take four pieces of 5" x 8" cardstock. Measure down 1" from the top and 1" up from the bottom on the righthand side. Score from the edge to the first score line.
- Cut each 1" square off, taking off the score lines.
- On the righthand side of each piece, cut from the bottom edge of the righthand side panel to the top corner of the next panel on both ends to form an angle.
- Glue all 8 panels to form columns, making sure to line up the edges so they are square.
- Press well to stick down. Four columns will have angled ends.
- Glue the pieces together to form a box frame by sliding one end of a square column into the end of an angled column, taking care to line things up so the frame is square.
- Lay the front and back of the case down. Glue one frame to the box front and back, making sure the frames are square and even.
Hinge
- To make the hinge, line up the two box frames, insides together.
- Place the score line of the hinge in the join between the two boxes. Glue in place. There will be a very little overhang on each side. Use scissors to trim to fit.
Decorate with the DSP.
Make the handles - your choice, either round or square, or a length of ribbon or twine - whatever you like.
Closure
- To make the closure, open the case out flat.
- Centre the Velcro dot in the centre of one outside edge. Stick in place.
- Fold the case over to adhere the top of the Velcro dot in place.
Acetate Cover
- Score each piece of acetate at 1" on all four sides.
- Trim 1/8" off all four sides of each piece.
- Fold and burnish the score lines.
- Cut the corners away on all four sides of each piece.
- Fold ends down and slide into place on the inside of the case.
Hints
- This looks complicated - it isn't, but there are just a few things you need to be mindful of to get the very best result.
- Measure accurately for all pieces. That means if you measure the first piece with the edge on the line on your trimmer or ruler, make sure the edge of all the remaining pieces is in the same spot before you cut. A tiny sliver may not make much difference on one piece, but over 16 it can be quite a big difference.
- Score carefully. Again, for each piece measure the score line and score on that line.
- Fold and burnish. The best result is to fold with the bump from the scoreline to the inside of the fold. Always, always make sure all edges are aligned before burnishing into place. And if you put the edge on the score line for one piece, put it on the score line for all the pieces.
These tips will ensure your presentation case is square and all edges are even and neat.
