Tip Store: Health: Hearing Aids

National Hearing Centres

I obtained my hearing aids from National Hearing Centres. The O.H.S. maintenance fee of $34.65 covers batteries and maintenance for 12 months. After the manufacturer's warranty has expired, O.H.S. will cover 86% of the cost of repairs and you will need to pay the balance. My small dog on two occasions has chewed the casing which had to be replaced and I could not afford to be without this warranty. The batteries alone would probably cost this if not more. By ringing a toll free number your batteries are mailed to you within one working day or alternatively they can be collected from your local clinic on presentation of your certificate. Hope this information is helpful.

Free Batteries if on Government Benefit

Someone was asking about hearing aid batteries recently. I also wear hearing aids, and have a couple of suggestions. To get batteries easily (without hunting around), look in your Yellow Pages for 'hearing services', and go to get them at hearing aid providers. While you are there, ask if they have a maintenance deal available. Also, I get my batteries for free, as I am on a government benefit, so make some enquiries. You have nothing to lose.
