Tip Store: Weddings: Invitations

Print up Your Own Invites, Menus, Thank-yous etc.

I found some really pretty paper at a scrap booking shop then simply printed them all off, added a couple of hearts and glittery bits and they all turned out brilliantly - people couldn't tell I'd done it all myself!

Have a thank-you photo taken with your wedding pictures A Thank-you Photo

Create your own 'Thank you' banner (just on A4 paper) and get your photographer to take a picture of you with the banner then reprinting it yourself is a much cheaper way of sending out your thank you cards and is also unique. I photograph weddings and have found that my clients love it, they don't have to worry about the card design and you can really have some fun with it as you can see from the picture.

One $18 Investment Saves Hundreds on Wedding Invitations AND Gifts!

I purchased invitation software to make my own wedding invitations, place cards etc - at a total cost of $18 - I'm saving a fortune on the invitations by doing them myself, and have also started to find other uses for the software - instead of filling out event information - I have filled it out using our household's prized sticky date recipe and presented it just as I would an invitation by printing on fancy card and adding embellishments. They look stunning, and I know that they will be treasured by those who have received them as they ask us every time we visit to make the sticky date pudding! A little gift with a lot of thought. I'm going to do the same with my cookie recipe and hand out to my workmates with some samples of the completed version wrapped in cellophane.

Ten Cent Wedding Invitations

Approximate $ Savings: $300 and up

Wedding invitations on the net and do it yourself kits can end up costing over $6 per invite. The Cheapskates way to get 10 cent invitations is to get a digital photo (we used a close up of a rose) and use word or Photoshop to put the ceremony particulars onto the photo. Then take the images to Clive Anthonys for 10 cent photos. The end result is unique and individualised invitations that look like you have hired a printer. We saved $350.

DIY Invitations with an Aussie Bush Theme

I made my Daughters Wedding Invitations very cheaply as she refused to spend heaps, more money for her honeymoon she said, and had so many wonderful comments on them as being unique and unusual. As I live in the bush I bought from a large Paper Wholesaler Pearlescent paper. Cut them out and printed names and details. I then wrapped them up with colour co-ordinated raffia and glued all native bush flowers etc. wattle, gumnuts, gum leaves and fern-like foliage. I sprayed them with a satin clear paint (in a can) which cost $2 and stamped the envelopes with a nature theme in same colours.

Inexpensive DIY Invitations

For cheap and DIY Invitations, check out: http://www.beedezigned.com.au/onlineshop/default.htm I've ordered my invites through them, and can print myself. My dad does really nice calligraphy so he's going to do the guest's names for us.
