Make Money with Spring Cleaning

September 2016
Springtime is here! Along with the flowers and the singing birds, it’s time for spring-cleaning. A few of us look forward to spring-cleaning, but many dread it.

If you could make money from spring-cleaning, would it be more tolerable?

Not only can you make money from your own yearly cleaning, you can make money by helping others too.

These ideas will help you to clean up financially:

As you’re cleaning, set aside those things you could sell.

During your cleaning activities, make a list of the items you’d like to get rid of that still have some monetary value. There are a variety of places you could sell them:
  • Gumtree or other classified ad service
  • Facebook Buy, Swap, Sell pages
  • EBay
  • Garage sale
  • Pawnshop (Cash Converters etc.)
  • Friends

Get the central heating system serviced (and yes, it is an expense but it will cost you more next winter if your ducted heating isn't working efficiently) and clean your air-conditioning filters ready for the summer heat. Improved airflow will result in lower costs.

Clean out the garage and park your car(s) inside! It has become common to use the garage to store everything except
the family car. But having your car exposed to the elements 24/7 creates unnecessary wear and tear on your vehicle. It’s also more likely to be stolen or a target of vandalism.

The garage is also prime hunting ground for good items to sell!

Expand your cleaning activities. Most people don’t have the funds to hire a maid, but many people do have the capability to hire someone to clean once a year. Get the word out that you’re willing to clean for cash.

You can also offer to sell everyone’s  unwanted items for a commission. Many people would rather throw items in the
In the bin than go through the effort to sell them. You might consider offering this service instead of offering a cleaning service. Or you could do both!

Freshen up your financial picture and make some money as you do your spring cleaning!
