Eucalyptus Mattress Refresher
An additional use for MOO Eucalyptus Spray is refreshing mattresses. When changing sheets spray the top and sides of the mattress with Eucalyptus Spray, it will kill any bugs and refresh the mattress. Let dry for 10 minutes before putting new sheets on.

Gentle Cycle, Wool Wash, Blanket is Clean!
I an alpaca blanket and I wash it on my gentle cycle in the washing machine with wool wash. It comes up a treat. If it has a stain you think might be difficult, just dab at it first with the wool wash. Contributed by Roslyn, Forster, 26th February 2009
Washing an Alpaca Blanket
Alpacas get wet in the rain don't they? If you're careful you should be successful with washing your blanket. I would put it in my large washing machine with a very mild woolwash (I Use Nutri Metics pink liquid with a few drops of eucalyptus oil) and slightly warm water, and use the machine as a large tub only. Don't agitate, squeeze gently with your hands. Use the machine to spin lightly and drain the water, then rinse with warm water and spin lightly again. Dry in shade, well supported.

The Pilling Problem
To stop flannelette sheets or flannelette clothing from piling you need to wash them when they are new using the following method: 1. Fill your tub up half-way with lukewarm water and add half a cup of soap flakes. 2.Hand wash the sheet and once the sheets are soaked through add 250-300mls of methylated spirits and rotate the sheet to soak it through. Do not add any more methylated spirits than this otherwise the smell will linger. 3.Add a tablespoon of eucalyptus oil to make the sheets smell good. 4.DO NOT RINSE as you will wash out the ingredients, that are locking in the pilling. Simply wring the sheets out gently and hang them on the line. Do this once a season, and then wash as usual. I have done this myself and it really works, as the sheets are lovely and soft and smell great. Contributed by Rosie, Sexton, 27th July 2009
Laundrette Saves on Dry Cleaning
Approximate $ Savings: $17
I have a queen sized mink blanket. Once a year, usually in December I have to wash it. As it's bulky it won't fit in my washing machine. I fixed this problem by using my local laundrette. At a cost of $4 I have my blanket washed thoroughly, rinsed and spun dry. As it's usually warm and dry in December, it takes 24 hours to line dry it. No need to get it dry cleaned, and you'll save a massive amount if you have numerous blankets in your household. Use your yellow or white pages phone directory to locate your nearest one. I got a quote from a large grocery store that also offers dry cleaning. The quote I got for one blanket was $21. You can also use the laundrette to wash your quilts etc. for the same price of $4!!

First Wash Before Use
New towels should be washed at least 3 times before use. Add a cup of white vinegar to the final rinse and it will help soften the fabric and release the fixers.

Short Sheets
If you have problems with short sheets on your bed that don't tuck in properly because of the depth of your mattress try sewing a jacket type zipper onto the two sheets at the edge. Zip the sheets together to put on the bed, unzip to wash. Alternatively sew a long strip of Velcro where the zipper would be. No more untucked sheets!
