MOO No. 23 Liquid Hand Soap
If you have small (or large) children in the house you’ll understand when I say liquid hand soap is both a blessing and a curse. It can be expensive to keep buying, but this recipe is so quick and easy to make you will never buy it again.
You will need:
1 bar bath soap
2 ½ litres water
1 tablespoon glycerine
Grate the soap, using the zester side of your grater. Combine the grated soap, water and glycerine in a large saucepan. Stir over a medium heat until the soap dissolves (the mixture will bubble up). Remove from the heat and allow to cool. Pour into pump dispensers (you might need to use a funnel for this). Makes the equivalent of 6 bottles of handwash. Cost approximately $0.60.
You can get glycerine in the baking aisle of the supermarket or from a chemist.
I use my own homemade soap, but any good bath soap will do just as good a job.
Use a LARGE saucepan - this mixture really does bubble up as the soap is dissolving.
If you think it is too thick, dilute it with a little cool water. Try half a cup, and mix well. If you think it is still too thick, add another half a cup of cool water. Keep diluting until it's the consistency you like.
