MOO No. 19 Steak Sauce
A good steak sauce really does enhance a well-cooked steak. There used to be some old favourites - Father's Favourite and HP spring to mind. I can't remember these sauces, although I remember my father putting HP sauce on his meat, so I can't say this is a great replacement, but I can say it is tasty, quick to make and is delicious on steak, chops, sausages and even chicken.
MOO Steak Sauce
Ingredients:
1 cup really good, thick tomato sauce
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (MOO Worcestershire sauce)
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
1-1/2 tbsp brown vinegar
1 tbsp orange juice
1 tsp molasses
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
Method:
Combine all of the ingredients in a medium-sized bowl, and whisk until fully incorporated. Store in a clean jar in the fridge for up to 1 week. Makes 1-¼ cups.
Notes: I use Rosella tomato sauce for the base of this steak sauce. It's nice and thick, which gives the sauce it's body.
MOO Worcestershire sauce is ideal for this recipe.
If you don't have Dijon mustard, wholegrain or English are good substitutes.
