Our Once a Year Shopping List
This is my once-a-year shopping list.
It's long. It's a lot. I spread the shopping out over three days in the week between Christmas and New Year so it's not absolutely exhausting.
And I love it! I love that the bulk of the grocery shopping for the entire year is done in just three days. I love that I can control our grocery spending. I love the security of knowing that regardless of what happens, we can eat and stay clean and keep our home clean for the next 12 months.
All for three days effort.

It's a long list, and it works for my f.amily.
There are variables, for example, the meat. I will buy the bulk of the meat and poultry we eat once a quarter, topping up if there is an extra good deal (chicken $4.99/kg, corned beef $7/kg etc.). The meat portion of the grocery budget is separate and has a separate purse where I keep a running total so I don't go over budget.

There is a portion of the grocery budget kept for a weekly or fortnightly top-up of fresh milk and fruit and veg.
It sounds complicated but it's not. It is so much easier than having to do a big shop once a week or fortnight.
Do I miss some sales? Yes, but then most of what I buy is generic, and generics don't come on sale very often.
