Don't Pay for Parking at Airports
We have come up with a simple solution to save on airport parking fees. We really begrudge paying up to $18 for parking at Sydney Airport when picking up friends and relatives. The absolute minimum charge is $6.00, and sometimes you are only parked for a few minutes! On the other end of the scale, it escalates even further if flights are delayed. Most people have a mobile phone and we now prearrange a quick call when they are ready to be collected from the free drive through pickup area. In the meantime, we wait in the comfort of our car in a side street not too far away by the Airport, or in a free car park nearby. Remember to take a newspaper or book, sit back and relax!

Read the Latest Bestsellers Free
Use your library. For a small minimal cost you can reserve and read all the latest bestsellers. This has saved me a fortune - I no longer buy any fiction books, and it also reduces household clutter in the Contributed by Denise, Croydon, April 8th 2005
Ferry Cheaper than Parking in the City
I currently have to take my son into the Brisbane city to a clinic every couple of weeks for treatment. The first visit because it was after 4 pm. cost me $7 in parking however when I come in to park before 4 p.m it will cost me $20. I found out that Kangaroo Point has a ferry and today we made a day of it and parked free at Kangaroo Point and got the ferry which only cost $4.50 return for the both of us. We got a lovely ferry trip no hassle with city traffic and had a lovely time together for only $4.50. Contributed by Glenyss, Worongary, April 5th 2005
Simple Water Bottle Saves $1,000
Approximate $ Savings: $1,000
To save money on drinks when I'm out shopping I fill a 600ml bottle of water and put in my hand bag (I keep one in the car as well). I make the whole family do this, in one year we have saved over $1 000 (especially as a certain family member likes to have Wendy's milkshakes at $5 each). It is also good if you are out and stop to have lunch at a fast food restaurant as there are no drinks to buy. Its a much healthier option as well.
