That Feel Good Paid-Up Feeling
Hi Cath,
I have been meaning to write to you for quite some time, to thank you for the work that you do. My Cheapskates story started quite by chance and in a very non-Cheapskate way! I picked up 'Debt Free, Cashed Up and Laughing' as an impulse purchase at the checkout of my Borders store.
Since then, my husband and I have bought a house, ditched all our credit cards (now living on a debit card only), and have installed solar panels. We are planning our garden (to be 100% 'productive') and hoping that it will be complete in time for the spring/summer growing season. We've set up a Christmas fund and have even bought half our Christmas presents this year.
It seems like such a small thing, but last Thursday it just felt so good to get paid and NOT have to immediately pay most of it out in credit bills. It is such a weight off my mind. So truly, thank you.
Now my thoughts are turning to the next phase of our marriage - children. We have thought that we'd like to start trying next year, but I am concerned about how we'll cope financially. I would dearly love to stay at home for them, because I know how much I missed my parents (they both had to work to make ends meet) and I don't want to do that to my own children.
Best wishes for you and yours for the remainder of this year.
Kind Regards,
Katie R.
