100 Days to A Cheapskates Style Christmas Day 17 Pretty Embellished Soaps

Picture
Not everyone can or even wants to make soap, but you don't have to, to have pretty soaps in your bathrooms.

These soaps are made with bought soap, and a few embellishments. They take just a few minutes each to make and best of all, they can be used!

You will need:
Cakes of soap - if you can get Christmas colours all the better, but white works too
Christmas themed stickers - $2 shops, The Reject Shop, Riot Art all have gorgeous Christmas stickers
Mod Podge - from craft shops, Lincraft, Spotlight etc.
A small sponge brush

Step 1. Position your sticker or decal on the cake of soap.

Step 2. Using your sponge brush, cover the top of the soap, including the sticker, with a thin layer of Mod Podge. Let it dry 30 minutes. Repeat at least once. I like to give three layers of Mod Podge, just to make sure the top of the soap is properly sealed.

Step 3. Let the Mod Podge dry overnight.

That's it. The soap will dissolve as it's used but the top layer you've sealed will stay intact, leaving the pretty picture until the very end of the soap.

Alternatively, you can melt a white candle and cover the sticker and top of the soap with three thin layers of melted wax, making sure each layer is dry before applying the next.

You can use these soaps in your own bathroom, but they make lovely gifts too.

Add them to a handtowel and wrap in clear cellophane.

Put three different designs into a small basket and decorate with poinsettias and Christmas bells (available from $2 shops).

Don't stop with Christmas designs. Use other themed stickers for everyday use - the designs are limited only by your imagination.
