31 DAYS OF MOO NO. 10 Olive Oil Whipped Moisturiser
This looks thick and heavy in the jar, but it goes on light and smooth and is so gentle and rich, and full of moisture, your skin will feel amazing. It is suitable as a face and body cream and is especially nice for elbows, knees and heels.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup olive oil
2 tbsp beeswax
1 cup tepid water
10 - 20 drops essential oil
Sterilised jar - 1-1/2 cups or slightly bigger
Method:
Combine the olive oil and beeswax and melt over a double boiler. Warm gently until the beeswax melts. As soon as the wax has melted remove from heat and stir in the essential oils if using them.
While the wax is melting pour 2 cups boiling water into a blender or mixing bowl to pre-warm it. This stops the wax from hardening on the sides.
Measure out the tepid water. Empty the boiling from the blender or bowl. Pour in the warm oil and start the blender or mixer. Add the water in a steady stream. The oil will set into a cream immediately, but keep mixing, there will be unincorporated water underneath. Stop the blender or mixer and scrape down the sides. Start the blender or mixer again. Repeat until all the water is incorporated into the cream and it is smooth.
Transfer immediately to a clean, dry jar. If you are quick you can pour, if it has started to set you will need to scoop it. Stir to eliminate air pockets, this helps the cream keep better. Cool completely before putting the lid on.
