31 Days of MOO No. 14 Super Simple Coconut Oil Cleaning Soap
This soap is for cleaning - the house, or the shower, or the floors, or even the washing - not for you!
The high ratio of coconut oil makes it very drying as a bath soap, but when it comes to cleaning, it's ideal.
Ingredients:
1 kg of coconut oil.
180g caustic soda (sodium hydroxide or lye)*
270g water
Pour the caustic soda crystals into the water and stir until dissolved. NOTE: Never add the water to the caustic soda, it will explode and boil over.
Melt the oil.
Pour the lye solution into the oil. Use a stick blender to stir until light trace is reached.
Add any colours or scents if you are using them. Mix through.
Pour into moulds. Let the soap sit for 24 hours before unmoulding to let it dry for at least 6 weeks before using it.
This soap is a good substitute for laundry soap.
*Make sure your caustic soda says it is suitable for soap making on the container.
