100 Days to a Cheapskates STyle Christmas Day 52: Seed Bombs
You will need:
1 tbsp seeds - whatever you like, but wildflowers are lovely, and smaller seeds are better as they mix into the bombs better
1 cup seed raising mix (or very fine potting mix)
1 cup bentonite clay
Mould - I use silicone ice cube and cup cake moulds
Water - about 2 cups
Strainer
Step 1. Combine the seeds, bentonite clay and seed raising mix in a bowl to distribute the seeds.
Step 2. Add about 1/2 cup water and blend until everything is mixed. The texture should resemble clay. You may need to add a little more water. If you add too much water, add more seed raising mixture.
Step 3. Take tablespoons of the mixture and roll into balls, like you do for truffles. Lay them on a sheet of baking paper or a non-stick tray to dry.
Step 4. Let the seed bombs dry for 72 hours in a dark spot (so the seeds don't sprout!).
Step 5. When the seed bombs are dry package in a paper or calico bag.
To use: Toss seed bombs over prepared garden bed and gently water in.
