Another easy and quick to make but so very useful and pretty stocking stuffer, crocheted scrunchies look great on their own, or bunched together in a group,
Use 4 ply cotton, or for something a little more elegant, pearl thread and a 4mm or 4.5mm crochet hook - gauge isn't a big deal with these scrunchies.
Start by working 40 single crochet around a hair elastic. I like to use the nude/natural colour hair elastics, they don't show up in the scrunchie.
Round 1. Chain 3, work 2 double crochet in the next stitch, repeat until the last stitch, work 1 double crochet. Slip stitch into the top of the first chain to join.
Round 2: Slip two stitches. Chain three. Work three double crochet into the next stitch, repeat until the last stitch, work 2 double crochet. Slip stitch into the top of the starting chain, tie off. Weave in ends.
That's it, just two rows of double crochet. They work up very quickly, a set can be whipped up in an evening in front of the TV, making them a great last minute gift idea too.
