"I am in dire need of help with huge debt. My first issue is denial, unable to collect my mail out of letterbox knowing I will collect bills and I just don't want to see them. Open the mail or matters will get worse. Work out which bills you can afford to pay first. Then ring the companies you owe the money to & ask if you can work out a payment plan with them. STOP SPENDING

I would suggest you start with your local community Citizens Advice Bureau help centre. Ours is situated in our shopping centre. If you make an appointment they usually have a free financial person who will be able to help get you started on the road to clearing your debt. They are also able to link you into other services

Seek help from a financial counsellor. . This is a free, confidential service that is offered throughput Australia. Many clients are in the same situation as you are and they bring in all their bills in box and the FC will help them open them and discuss the bills. There are solutions to debt.
